Worthy successor or not???- 2018 Maruti Suzuki Swift

2018 Maruti Swift Review Test Drive

Maruti Suzuki is one of the oldest and one of the most successful brands in the country, if not the most successful... Over the years, the Japanese manufacturer has come up with countless amounts of successful cars for its arsenal....and one of those is the Swift... The first generation was an instant success when it came out in 2005, the second generation of the Swift only took it even further in 2011... And now, thirteen years after the introduction of the Swift, Maruti Suzuki has give us the third generation...

Lets start with the exteriors, the new Swift gets a fresh look with a new front headlamp cluster with projector headlamps and LED DRL's which are new for the car and are complemented by the bigger front grill... They have also gone for a floating roof look by blacking out the A,B & C pillars,  new 15 inch alloy wheels and a door handle placed on the C pillar... The rear also gets a newly designed bumper and a LED tail-lamp cluster...

Suzuki have taken a huge step forward when it comes to the interior of the Swift... It offers an all black, sporty feel with a three spoke, flat bottom steering wheel and an all new MID speedometer with red out-lining... They have also provided it with their 7 inch infotainment system which supports Apple Car-play and Android auto with a rear parking camera with dynamic guidelines and a parking sensor... It also comes with automatic climate control, steering mounted audio controls, electrically foldable ORVMs, keyless entry and push button start... The cabin space also sees a slight improvement and the front seats offer better lumbar support...

The engine options continue to be the same 1.2 VTVT petrol engine which produces 82BHP and 113Nm of torque and the DDiS diesel engine which houses 74BHP and 190Nm of torque, there are no major tuning changes to these motors either although Maruti do suggest that these engines will have 10% improvement in acceleration... Now for the first time, Maruti Suzuki are offering both a 5-speed manual and an option of a 5-speed automatic...

From the safety point of view, Maruti Suzuki are for the first time providing dual front airbags and ABS as standard across the range and the top end trims to have options for additional airbags... They also claim a vast improvement in the structural integrity of the car since this one is built on their HEARTECT platform... The pricing of this new generation Swift is from 5 to 8.30 Lacs ex-showroom Delhi...

In the end, I’d just like to say that Maruti Suzuki have once again outdone themselves and made one of the most successful and top selling cars at offer in the Indian market even better and there is no reason as to why the sales of the vehicle will go down anytime soon... The Japanese manufacturer do indeed know how to work the Indian auto-industry and what appeals to the customers here...

2018 Hyundai Creta Facelift- First Impression

The Creta was first showcased to the world by Hyundai in 2014 and it made it to the Indian market the following year(i.e. 2015)… Over the next three years Hyundai kept giving it little updates, the most remarkable of which was the dual tone colour schemes… But in 2018, three full years after launch, the Korean manufacturer finally decided to give the highly desired Creta a fresh look and a host of new features to add to the existing pretty accomplished vehicle… Lets start with the exteriors, most of the changes have occurred on the front with the new grill which gives it a more subtle look, the grey skid plate added to give it a more imposing SUV-like stance… The headlight cluster also gets small changes, the most noticeable of which is the repositioning of the LED DRLs which now are placed around the new squared-off fog-lamps instead of the rectangular ones in the outgoing model… The rear only gets small changes like a new skid plate and a slight change in the back-light

"Don't try to fix something that doesn't need fixing"- 2018 Hyundai Elite i20 Facelift

The i20 has been Hyundai's top selling car in the market for a number of years now... The first generation model was launched in 2009 which kick-started the premium hatch segment and then the second generation was launched in 2014 as the 'Elite i20' and instantly won the hearts of many... Now, in 2018, Hyundai have given us a facelift with some updated features and other minor changes.. Not a lot has changed when it comes to the exteriors of the car, they have re-designed the grill a little bit, changed the shape of fog-lamps and added cornering lamps in the headlight cluster... Not much has changed from the sides, only the new diamond cut alloys for the 16 inch wheels... The rear sees most of the changes made on the exteriors with the new LED tail lamps which some would say don't look as good as before but thats subjective really along with the newly designed rear reflector and reversing/fog lamp... The interior also is more of an evolution than a revolution
